| Press Release - Leverett Circle Connector Bridge to Open October 7, 1999 |
| The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority has announced the opening of the initial Leverett Circle Connector including the Storrow Drive Connector Bridge on October 7, 1999. Governor Paul Cellucci and many elected officials will join with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority’s Chairman James J. Kerasiotes in the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Leverett Circle Connector and the Storrow Drive Bridge are the second major milestone reached on the Central Artery Project. The Storrow Drive Bridge has three spans totaling over 830 feet. The bridge is built using steel box girders, which are the largest in the United States. City Lights Electrical Company Inc. is proud to have been a part of completing this milestone on schedule. The Storrow Drive Bridge, is the third milestone we have helped to achieve on the Central Artery Tunnel Project to date. The two previous milestones were the Broadway Bridge which opened in January of this year and the Ted Williams Tunnel which opened in December 1995. |
